Oh no, I am engaged! Now what's next?

Exactly a month ago, I said yes to someone I am going to spend the rest of my life with.

I used to tell him that if ever he will ask the question, he should tell me a day before so that I can prepare my dress and hair and make-up. Contrary to this, however, he popped the question in the most unexpected time.

He never asked me while we were in the Sparkz Restobar in the 37th floor of Crown Regency Sky Tower Cebu, nor while we were watching sunset in Boracay, nor while we were having our ‘alone time’ in our ship to Cebu, nor while we were in the Harbor View in Manila Bay.

To my surprise, he asked me “Marry me... please” after a day of flights from Cebu to Manila to Puerto Princesa. We arrived late in Puerto Princesa, but we both craved for crocodile sisig to satisfy his curiosity. It started raining heavily while we were still meters away from the restaurant. Indeed, holding hand while walking under the rain is such sweet thing, so we ignored the raindrops and just enjoyed the moment.

Kinabuchs Bar and Grill was jam-packed when we arrived there. There was no vacant table for two. Soaked, we settled ourselves in a corner of the bar. As a habit, we used to talk a lot about any topic while waiting for our order. But at that time, I was the only one talking; he just sat there, looking intently at me.  I suddenly became conscious of my appearance, my hair dripping wet and messy. I stopped talking.  And he opened his mouth to ask me, “Marry me… please.”

So there, soaked, with my hair dripping, I answered “yes, I will.”

The emotions were so overwhelming… that the first person to know that we’re engaged already was the waiter who served us with our food, who then asked us if he can announce it there in front of a hundred diners… the next thing we knew, we left the restaurant with people giving us their best wishes.

That moment was so perfect… I am neither in my dress nor in my best hair and make-up, but I felt like I am the most beautiful woman at that time.

So yeah, if you hear wedding bells already, you heard it right.

Our first photo after the proposal (and after the announcement of our engagement),
taken before we leave the restaurant. Ayee, meet my fiance!
